Final Contest of the First Provincial English Dubbing Competition Held in TYUT

The College of Foreign Languages (CFL) of Taiyuan University of Technology (TYUT) held The Final of the First Provincial English Dubbing Competition of Colleges and Universities at Lecture Hall of CFL on the morning of December 23, 2018.



The team of TYUT comprising students from the College of Foreign Languages and the College of Materials Science and Engineering won the Grand Prize in this competition. The team from Changzhi College gained the Best Popularity Award of Online Voting. The Best Organization Award was given to TYUT.



Mr. Qing Jie, Vice Director of Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Shanxi Province, delivered a speech at the beginning of the competition explicating the significance of holding this competition in the new era that it is a good way for young university students to display their talents on the stage of English Dubbing, and fulfill their potentials of telling stories in other languages by cross-cultural learning and communicating.



Noting that since the Reform and Opening-up Policy has been implemented, forty years has witnessed the increasing frequency of international cooperation and surging demand of international minded universities. Professor Zhai Jian, the Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection of TYUT, said that talents needed by the country's construction plan of world-class universities and first-class disciplines should improve their English ability in order to carry the mission of transmitting Chinese culture and telling Chinese stories to the world. Professor Zhai also expected that this competition can be a stage of foreign languages communication for all universities and colleges in Shanxi, a way to enrich the methods of learning and teaching foreign languages, and an opportunity to create the international cultural atmosphere on campus.



The competition was sponsored by Translation Association of Shanxi Province, undertaken by Student's Union, Chinese Communist Youth League Committee and College of Foreign Languages of TYUT, and attended by teams from 15 universities and an audience of over 400.
