Jointly organized by the College of Foreign Languages (CFL) of TYUT and Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, the preliminary contest of the 2020 "Word Master" Online English Vocabulary Contest of TYUT kicked off on May 9, 2020. A total of 1,201 students participated in the competition, and 75 teachers gave guidance throughout the course, covering undergraduates in all four grades. The competition uses CET-4 and CET-6 vocabulary as the test scope, and comprehensively examines the students' vocabulary pronunciation, spelling, word meaning and collocation.

The contest is impressive in terms of its scale and the number of participants. It has also enjoyed an unstoppable rise in popularity for its engagement, competitiveness and fun, laying the foundations for the organization of online competitions in the future.
